November 2016

December 3, 2016

This year, November was an extremely busy month for the men of Sigma Chi. It was full of excitement, joy, stress, and sorrow. We began the month by initiating our fall class of 2016. We would like welcome them into Sigma Chi and especially thank brother Cale Reber for being an outstanding magister. Also, a big thanks to brothers Lane Murphy and Taylor Priest for making the initiation a great experience. The following week, we enjoyed Ski Lodge, one of our date parties, thanks to brother Trevor Fielder and his hard work. That same weekend on Saturday, we were struck with tragedy. Our brother, Brandon Cavazos, unexpectedly passed away that morning. It was difficult for everyone, but thanks to the community around us we were able to get through it. The following Wednesday, we held a candlelight vigil for Brandon which was put on well by brothers Evan McMillen, Jeremy Atkinson, and Korbet Moore. That Friday, everyone in the active chapter traveled down to Bedford, Texas for the funeral to show support to the Cavazos family and to honor Brandon. We were soon followed by Thanksgiving break which was much needed for everyone in the house. As everyone returned from break, we jumped into dead week beginning to study for finals. Christmas break is fast approaching and everyone is continuing to work hard to finish the semester off strong, so that we can all get home safe. I would also like to congratulate the new executives who were elected earlier this month. Lastly, the men of Sigma Chi would like to thank everyone who supported us through the difficult time. Thank you to the entire Greek community, Oklahoma State University, and especially the counseling service for all the help that was offered us. Sigma Chi wishes you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Brandon Cavazos
In Hoc,
Carter Vincent
